I have a friend named Diana, and it's pronounced Dee-anna.
I have a friend named Deanna, and it's pronounced Dee-na.
I have a friend named Dana, and it's pronounced Dan-na.
Right now I don't know anyone who pronounces their names Day-na or Die-anna, though I have in the past. Don't get me started on how to say Tamara...

I went to school with a girl named Alice. A-liss? Oh, no, she pronounced it A-lick-a.
And then there was Sarah. Sare-a? No, Sah-rah!
And Ohn-dree-ah. Or Andrea to all of us normal folk.
You can call me Dayna, that's ok. :)
It has always driven me crazy that because my mother either a. couldn't spell or b. was too stoned from the 60's that I have to live my life constantly correcting people that my name Deanna looks like DeAnna but per Mother is prounounced DEENA. I am just going to change it to Ooom Foo Fhoo the FireDancer.
love,
Foo
